PRP Hair Rejouvination
PRP is a powerful and natural hair loss treatment that does not require daily pills or chemical lotions.
PRP stands for Platelet Rich Plasma. A small amount of blood is extracted from the patient, the blood cells are then separated from the platelets and the plasma of the blood. This liquid made up of platelets and plasma is known as PRP.
A controlled injury is created on the affected scalp area using a needle-rolling hand piece. The needles penetrate into the second layer of the skin, where the hair follicles are pierced creating thousands of miniature skin wounds. This stimulates the body to send PLATELETS and PLASMA to the area, to repair the injured cells. The PRP containing concentrated amounts of growth factors is then infused directly into the scalp. Adding the PRP increases the amount of repairing cells (platelets) and nutrients (plasma) in the hair loss region. This exposes the skin cells and the hair follicles to large amounts of healing platelets and nutrient rich plasma.
This activates the proliferative phase of the hair cycle, resulting in new thicker, hair growth.
New hair growth will start to become visible about 3-4 months after your initial treatment as the platelets stimulate the growth factors that assist in more hair growth. This will gradually improve over the ensuing months.
It normally takes 3-5 treatments to see the best result. Treatments can be done every 2 weeks to 4 weeks. The hair growth is reviewed after 6 months and one top up treatment can be done if necessary at 8 – 9 months.
